With older cars, fixing them up can be a little challenging. With newer cars, there are plenty of option you have to dress up the interior and exterior of the car. You can improve the performance or at least make it look like its fast as lightening. With older cars, things are a bit different.
The bottom line is that if you are tying to do your own crash repair and if you have the time, the knowledge and the know how, the car parts you need are at your disposal. Even if your car is older and even if your car is somewhat obscure, the parts can be found, and if you are determined, you'll find them.
To begin with, it should be clear that aftermarket car parts are not essential for the car's everyday running. Nor are aftermarket parts available as standard accessories from car dealers. These are available at manufacturers or suppliers of ancillary spare parts.
Next, you might want to check into parts stores as well. You may have some success with this method, but if you struck out finding the car parts at the dealer, it is unlikely that you will have much luck at a parts store considering most parts stores get their OEM parts from the same place the dealer gets theirs, from the closest manufacturer parts depot.
In order to avoid this, you want to be sure that your insurance company pays you directly for the repairs as opposed to settling the bill after the repairs are done. This will give you the freedom to have the car repaired where you choose and have the car parts used that you wish to be used.
